Limerick-based AI software company AMCS Group has appointed Eric S. Walsh as its new chief executive officer, succeeding co-founder Jimmy Martin who will transition to the company's board of directors, according to Business Wire.

Walsh joins AMCS from MRI Software, one of the world's largest real estate technology platforms, where he served as Managing Director of Americas. He has previously held senior positions at NCR and PowerSchool, and brings more than two decades of enterprise software leadership with a focus on customer-first organisations and rapid time to value.

AMCS, which provides AI-powered, purpose-built automation for the waste, recycling and transportation industries, serves more than 5,000 organisations across 23 countries. The appointment comes as the company enters a new phase of growth, with plans to deepen customer relationships and accelerate its presence across North America and Europe.

Walsh said: "AMCS has built something truly differentiated a world-class AI-powered platform, a loyal and growing global customer base, and a team that deeply understands this industry."

He added: "My focus is on driving global growth and ensuring every business we serve, wherever they are, experiences the full power of our AI innovation, and that we continue to deliver at the pace the industry demands."

Martin, who co-founded AMCS in 2003 and led its growth into a global sustainability and resource management technology company, said: "AMCS is in a position of real strength, and I look forward to continuing to be part of this story from the Board."

Board chairman David Post said Walsh would lead AMCS in raising standards across product quality, customer experience and AI innovation as the company expands into its core markets.
