ArrowXL by JP Home has reduced its fleet mileage by approximately 13% after deploying Descartes Systems Group's AI-powered route planning and fleet performance management solution, with 95% of delivery routes now planned overnight, early route terminations reduced from 5% to 1%, and deliveries outside customer preferred time windows down by 4%.
ArrowXL by JP Home is the UK's largest two-person home delivery and warehousing specialist, founded in 1984 and headquartered in Wigan, with estimated annual revenue of approximately $97.9 million (€89.6 million). It was acquired by Groupe Jacky Perrenot, the €1.2 billion French logistics group, in June 2025.
ArrowXL delivers more than two million customer orders annually across 98% of UK postcodes six days a week, serving retailers, e-tailers and manufacturers with white goods, appliances and large-format consumer products. Descartes Systems Group (Nasdaq: DSGX) is a Waterloo, Ontario-headquartered global logistics technology provider with FY2025 revenues of $596.6 million (€546 million), up 16% year on year.
The structural driver for CX is the emotionally charged nature of bulky home delivery. Customers waiting for a fridge freezer, washing machine or sofa have typically planned their day around the delivery window; a missed appointment or early route termination is not a minor inconvenience, it is a brand experience failure that directly damages the retailer's relationship with that customer.
The 4% reduction in out-of-window deliveries and the 80% reduction in early route terminations are therefore CX metrics as much as operational ones. ArrowXL's retailer clients measure customer satisfaction and repeat purchase rates, and on-time, in-full delivery performance is the single strongest predictor of both.
The 95% overnight automated route planning is the enabling condition for this improvement. When planners spend less time manually constructing routes, they can focus on the exceptions, complex multi-stop appointments, installation requirements, access constraints, where human judgement adds the most value to the customer outcome.
For the sector, the ArrowXL case demonstrates that logistics technology investment in last-mile delivery generates measurable CX returns that justify the cost independently of operational efficiency gains, a reframing that retail CX directors should apply when evaluating carrier partnerships.
