Energy supplier Calor has introduced Calor Gas2Go, a pioneering solar-powered, self-service vending machine system that provides round-the-clock access to Calor gas cylinders. The first units have been installed in Kilcock, County Kildare, and Loughrea, County Galway, marking the debut of this technology in Ireland.

The stand-alone machines are designed for secure storage and automated dispensing, enabling customers to collect gas cylinders outside traditional retail hours without compromising safety. Calor said the system represents a more sustainable alternative to conventional supply models, offering users the option to access BioLPG, a renewable gas blend, through the Patio Gas program. This aligns with the company’s commitment to supporting cleaner energy solutions and reducing carbon emissions.

The Gas2Go initiative is intended to enhance convenience and flexibility for residential and commercial customers alike. By providing 24/7 availability, the vending machines ensure that gas supply is uninterrupted, particularly during peak demand periods or outside standard shop hours. The technology also incorporates advanced safety and monitoring features to maintain secure dispensing at all times.

Marc van Huet, Chief Financial Officer at Calor, said the launch reflects the company’s focus on innovation and customer-centric solutions. He highlighted plans to expand the Gas2Go network through partnerships with local service stations, extending accessibility and reinforcing Calor’s position as a market leader in sustainable energy solutions.

This initiative exemplifies how energy providers can combine technological innovation, renewable energy, and enhanced customer service to meet modern demands.
